history

The association was founded on May 11, 1911 as ÍF KFUM Reykjavík ; In 1918 he merged with Voeringjar Reykjavík . Around the same time it was renamed Valur . Valur 's first men's team has been Icelandic football champions 22 times (first in 1930) and won the Icelandic Cup 11 times (most recently in 2016). The first women's team won the national championship a total of 17 times between 1962 and 2019, including eleven championship titles until 1975. Both teams are currently (2018/19 season) in the first division ( Úrvalsdeild ).
