Vincent B. Murphy

Vincent Bernard Murphy (born January 4, 1888 in Rochester , New York , † February 25, 1956 in Washington, DC ) was an American politician ( Republican Party ).

Career

Vincent Bernard Murphy, son of Daniel B. Murphy, was born in Monroe County in 1888 . Nothing is known about his youth. During the First World War he served in the US Army . He served in the New York State Assembly for the 3rd District (Monroe County) in 1922, 1923 and 1924 . In the 1924 elections he was elected New York State Comptroller , but suffered a defeat to Democrat Morris S. Tremaine when he ran for re-election in 1926 . He held the post from 1925 to 1926. In 1933 he took as a delegate to the New York Convention for the purpose of ratifying the 21st Amendment . He belonged to the Knights of Columbus . After his death, he was buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

His son Vincent Bernard Murphy Jr. (1928-2006) was President of the United States Equestrian Team between 1983 and 1989 .
