Wały ( German  Wallendorf ) is a village in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Nidzica (urban and rural municipality Neidenburg ) in the powiat Nidzicki ( Neidenburg district ).

Geographical location

Wały is located in the southwestern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 16 kilometers northeast of the district town of Nidzica ( German  Neidenburg ).

history

The village and the Wallendorf forestry ( belonging to the Kaltenborn state forest ) were founded in 1708. In 1874 the place was incorporated into the administrative district Malga (Polish : Małga , no longer existing) in the East Prussian district of Neidenburg , then on March 6, 1896, it was reclassified into the newly formed district of Kaltenborn (Polish: Zimna Woda ).

419 residents were registered in Wallendorf in 1910. Their number decreased slightly to 399 by 1933 and was still 375 in 1939.

As a result of the war, Wallendorf was transferred to Poland in 1945 along with all of southern East Prussia . The place received the Polish name form "Wały" and is now a place in the network of the city and rural community Nidzica (Neidenburg) in the powiat Nidzicki ( Neidenburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship . In 2011 Wały had 151 inhabitants.

church

Until 1945 Walldorf was in the Protestant church Muschaken (Polish Muszaki ) in the ecclesiastical province of East Prussia the Prussian Union of churches also in the Roman Catholic church Neidenburg in the diocese of Warmia eingepfarrt. Today Wały belongs to the evangelical parish Nidzica in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland and to the Roman Catholic parish Zimna Woda (Kaltenborn) , a branch of the parish Napiwoda (Grünfließ) in the Archdiocese of Warmia .
