Warren O. Arnold
Warren Otis Arnold (born June 3, 1839 in Coventry , Rhode Island , † April 1, 1910 in Westerly , Rhode Island) was an American politician . Between 1887 and 1891 and between 1895 and 1897 he represented the second constituency of the state of Rhode Island in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Warren Arnold attended public schools in his home country and then worked in Coventry from 1857 to 1864 in commerce. Then he started working in the textile industry. Politically, he became a member of the Republican Party . In 1886 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC as their candidate in the second district of Rhode Island . There he replaced the Democrat Charles H. Page on March 4, 1887 , whom he had beaten in the election. After re-election in 1888, he was initially able to remain in Congress until March 3, 1891 . In the elections of 1890 none of the candidates achieved a majority, which resulted in a new election, in which Arnold no longer ran. His seat fell back to Charles Page.
In 1894 Arnold was re-elected to Congress, where he took his old seat again on March 4, 1895 and was able to fill it for a legislative period until March 3, 1897. In the subsequent elections in 1896, he renounced another candidacy and withdrew from politics after the end of the term of office. In the following years, Arnold returned to his previous business activities in the textile industry.
