White Moor (Rahden)
The Weißes Moor nature reserve is located in the town of Rahden in the Minden-Lübbecke district . It is around 46.7 hectares and is listed under the designation MI-021.
It is north-east of the district of Ton Heath and west of the border with Lower Saxony and the Wickriede .
meaning
The protection is given because of the rarity and the special character of the area and for the preservation and restoration of communities as a refuge for threatened and endangered wild animal and plant species .
This nationally significant habitats with the Rahden-Diepenau Geest typical bog of a raised bog complex and adjoining fen area with the Gentiles ( Calluna -Heiden and dwarf shrub heath ), standing water , oak - birch forests , bushes and hedges are to preserve and protect. In addition, the area as a stepping stone biotope has an important meaning in connection with the other still existing moors such as the Great Peat Moor , the Oppenweher Moor and the Uchter Moor .
The White Moor is an FFH area in the Natura 2000 area network . Of particular importance is z. B. for the common snipe , the wood sandpiper , the little grebe , the meadow pipit and the oriole as well as the teal and the teal .
