The town's buildings are widely scattered between Starz in the southwest, Hörhag in the southeast and northeast, Mairhof in the north and Graben (municipality of Lembach in the Mühlkreis ) in the west. In the north-west of the village are four buildings with the farms Ebmer (Weigert No. 6) and Leithenbauer (Weigert No. 4). There are also four buildings in the south-east, these buildings being between houses in the village of Hörhag in the north and south. In addition, the Arafmühle on the Kleine Mühl belongs to Weigert. A total of nine buildings were counted for Weigert in 2001, with seven buildings having a main residence and 13 apartments or 12 households. There were also six agricultural and forestry facilities and one workplace.

history

The place name Weigert has been handed down since 1260 and is derived from the personal name Willehart. For a long time, weigert was only an area designation and was included in Hörhag (rule Pürstein-Kirchberg). Weigert has been a village since 1826. At that time the village consisted of only six buildings, two in the southeast (Weigert 1 and 2), the Leithenbauer and Ebmer farms (Weigert 4 and 5 or 6) and the Arafmühle (Weigert 3). In 1869, 40 people lived in six houses in the village. By 1910 the population sank to 68 inhabitants in seven houses.

Arafmühle

The Arafmühle (also Arraufmühle, Abraiffmühle) is located in the west of Weigert on the Kleine Mühl. The name of the mill is derived from its location, as the steep path to the mill once led up and down (dialect ahi - aufi ). The mill was bought by the gentlemen of Tannberg Castle in 1369 and was in operation as a wage and trade mill until 1958. In the interwar period, even grain from Hungary, which was transported by ship to Obermühl and then on horse-drawn vehicles to Weigert, was ground here. In the end, however, the mill was only operated for personal use. The mill behind the house that still exists today consisted of two stone mills, two rolling mills and three water wheels. Due to the state support for bread grain, operations were stopped in 1958 and the mill was demolished in 1972. Until 1971, the mill also had an inn and an agricultural area. The Venetian saw with its own waterwheel belonging to the mill was replaced by a Francis shaft turbine in 1959 ; after the mill was demolished, the saw was converted into a full frame. Until the mid-1960s, the saw was mainly used for lumber export, after which investments followed in a planing mill and in wood drying. The saw was converted and expanded several times.
