World Heritage in Burkina Faso

The World Heritage in Burkina Faso (as of 2019) includes three UNESCO World Heritage sites . Burkina Faso ratified the World Heritage Convention in 1987, and the first World Heritage site was added to the World Heritage List in 2009. The last World Heritage site to date was registered in 2019.

World heritage sites

The following table lists the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Burkina Faso in chronological order according to the year of their inclusion in the World Heritage List (K - cultural heritage, N - natural heritage, K / N - mixed, (R) - on the Red List of World Heritage in Danger ).

2009 K 1225 The ruins are the remains of a former fortification near the municipality of Loropéni in the Sud-Ouest region . The fortifications were built to protect the former Trans-Saharan trade . Much of the facility has not yet been excavated, so there is little knowledge of the facility. The plants are around 1000 years old.
