West Vero Corridor is a census-designated place (CDP) in Indian River County in the US state of Florida with 7138 inhabitants (as of 2010).

West Vero Corridor borders Vero Beach to the east and is about 140 km southeast of Orlando . Interstate 95 and Florida State Road 60 cross or touch the CDP .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 7138 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 5813 households. The population density was 553.3 inh / km². 96.3% of the population identified themselves as white, 0.8% as African-American , 0.1% as Native American and 0.6% as Asian Americans . 1.3% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 0.8% to several ethnic groups. 5.2% of the population was Hispanic or Latino .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 7.5% of all households and people aged 65 and over lived in 70.5% of all households. 47.9% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 1.68 people and the average family size was 2.28 people.

7.6% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 9.3% were 20 to 39 years old, 16.9% were 40 to 59 years old, and 66.2% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 70 years. 43.3% of the population were male and 56.7% were female.

The median annual income was $ 36,281, with 10.3% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 94.68% of the population, 2.60% spoke Spanish and 2.72% had another mother tongue.
