Winter Beach is a census-designated place (CDP) in Indian River County in the US state of Florida with 2067 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
Winter Beach borders the city of Indian River Shores to the east . The CDP is located about 5 km north of Vero Beach and about 140 km southeast of Orlando . To the east of Winter Beach runs the Indian River , part of the Intracoastal Waterway on the east coast of Florida.
The CDP is crossed by US Highway 1 and the Florida East Coast Railway .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the 2067 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 962 households. The population density was 116.1 inh / km². 88.5% of the population identified themselves as whites, 6.3% as African American , 0.3% as Indians and 1.9% as Asian Americans . 1.3% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.6% to several ethnic groups. 8.9% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 33.5% of all households lived in 32.7% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 77.3% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.63 people and the average family size was 2.95 people.
26.5% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 17.2% were 20 to 39 years old, 29.5% were 40 to 59 years old, and 26.8% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 45 years. 49.3% of the population were male and 50.7% were female.
The median annual income was $ 56,698, with 23.5% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 100% of the population.
