Wabasso is a census-designated place (CDP) in Indian River County in the US state of Florida with 609 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
Wabasso borders directly on the city of Sebastian in the northwest . The CDP is located approximately 10 km north of Vero Beach and approximately 140 km southeast of Orlando . The Indian River , part of the Intracoastal Waterway on the east coast of Florida, runs east of Wabasso .
The CDP is crossed by US Highway 1 , Florida State Road 510 and the Florida East Coast Railway .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 609 inhabitants were distributed among 402 households. The population density was 96.7 inh / km². 91.1% of the population identified themselves as whites, 5.7% as African-Americans , 0.2% as Indians and 0.2% as Asian Americans . 2.1% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 0.7% to several ethnic groups. 4.4% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 35.6% of all households lived in 17.0% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 55.7% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.11 people and the average family size was 2.61 people.
14.9% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 14.4% were 20 to 39 years old, 37.6% were 40 to 59 years old, and 32.9% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 52 years. 53.0% of the population were male and 47.0% were female.
