Wabasso Beach is a census-designated place (CDP) in Indian River County in the US state of Florida with 1853 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
Wabasso Beach borders Orchid in the north and Indian River Shores in the south . The CDP is located approximately 15 km north of Vero Beach and approximately 140 km southeast of Orlando . Wabasso Beach is located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian River , which forms part of the Intracoastal Waterway .
The CDP is crossed by Florida State Roads A1A and 510 .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 1853 inhabitants were distributed over 1567 households. The population density was 597.7 inh / km². 98.8% of the population identified themselves as white , 0.2% as African-American and 0.6% as Asian Americans . 0.1% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 0.3% to several ethnic groups. 1.7% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 5.9% of all households and persons aged 65 and over lived in 68.4% of all households. 68.8% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 1.86 people and the average family size was 2.18 people.
5.7% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 3.6% were 20 to 39 years old, 19.8% were 40 to 59 years old, and 70.9% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 67 years. 46.8% of the population were male and 53.2% were female.
