history
The settlement was created in connection with the construction of a siding from the Sharja train station to a ship landing stage at the Wetluga 1920. This was not far from Lake Golyschi, after which the place was named. A forestry company and a railway sleeper factory were established at the landing stage, which is mainly used for shipping timber . In 1938 Golyschi received urban-type settlement status.
In 1946, the construction of a "housing combine" began nearby, which also included a workers' housing estate . This settlement and Golyschi were united in 1960 and were given the name Wetluschski, derived from the name of the river (not to be confused with the urban-type Wetluschski settlement of the same name further downstream in the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast ).
