The Wiehoff is 8.7 kilometers flowing distance of the longest and an eastern and left tributary of the Ems . It flows within the Habichtswald Nature Park in the district of Kassel and Schwalm-Eder-Kreis , northern Hesse ( Germany ).
course
The Wiehoff rises on the western flank of the Langenberge . Its source is on the southern outskirts of Elmshagen , the southernmost part of the community of Schauenburg , in an agricultural area at around 398 m above sea level. NHN .
Initially, the Wiehoff flows south through a valley lined with wooded mountains, such as the Falkenstein (with the Falkenstein castle ruins ), the Altenburg ( 450.7 m ; with the Altenburg ) and the Emser Berg ( 446.5 m ) in the west and the Steinberg ( 418.9 m ), the Sengelsberg ( 449 m ) and Niedensteiner Kopf ( 475 m ) in the east. It first takes in the stream from Götzenberg and the stream from Essigberg at a common inflow point. Shortly afterwards the Schwosbach flows into it. Then the brook reaches the core town of Niedenstein , where at the entrance to the town the Reichenbach and a little below it the brook at Niedenstein flow. A little below it, it flows through the Wichdorf district of Niedenstein , where the stream flows from the Emser Berg.
Then the Wiehoff turns west after its east loop running around the desert of Hausen and then flows southeast of Merxhausen and north-northwest of Kirchberg into the forest area Buchlücke. It flows into it at a height of around 209 m , around 250 m north of the former Weißenthalsmühle, into the Eder tributary of the Ems , which flows from the north-northwest .
Natural allocation
The Wiehoff arises in the sub-unit Hinterhabichtswälder Kuppen (342.2) belonging to the natural spatial main unit group West Hessian mountain and sink country (No. 34) and to the main unit Habichtswälder Bergland (342 ). It then flows through the natural area Fritzlarer Börde (343.23), which in the main unit West Hessian Basin (343) belongs to the subunit Hessengau (343.2), up to its mouth .
