Karl Heinrich August Wilhelm Doering , from 1818 von Doering (born October 22, 1791 in Cosel , † July 30, 1866 in Cranz ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

He was the son of the Prussian captain in the engineering corps Heinrich Friedrich Wilhelm Döring (1766-1822) and his wife Helene Dorothea Karoline, née Weyde (1774-1813).

Military career

Doering attended the educational institution in Gnadenfrei and joined the fusilier battalion "von Boguslawski" of the Prussian army in 1805 as a private corporal . There he rose to Portepeefähnrich at the beginning of January 1806 . A few days before his 15th birthday in October 1806, he witnessed the dramatic battle of Jena and Auerstedt . Wounded, he was taken prisoner by the French for 18 months and after the Peace of Tilsit came to the 1st Infantry Regiment (East Prussian) on December 15, 1808 . Doering was promoted to Second Lieutenant in March 1809 and took part in the Russian campaign on France's side in 1812 . During the Wars of Liberation he fought near Großgörschen , for which Doering received the Iron Cross II class. He also took part in the battles near Bautzen and the Katzbach . For his behavior in Leipzig he was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir IV. Class and for Löwenberg with the Iron Cross 1st Class.

On April 10, 1815 Doering was transferred to the adjutantage. Six days later he came to the brigade in Königsberg as prime lieutenant and adjutant . After he was promoted to captain at the end of March 1817, Doering was on January 26, 1818 by King Friedrich Wilhelm III. the hereditary Prussian nobility raised . From April 6, 1823 to June 6, 1824 he was adjutant of the Koenigsberg governorate and then adjutant of the 4th division . In this capacity, Doering also acted as director of the division school of the 4th Division from October 1, 1825. At the end of March 1828 he returned to the troop service and became company commander in the 9th Infantry Regiment (called Colbergsches) in Anklam . With the promotion to major followed from March 30 to October 5, 1830 a use in the 40th Infantry Regiment . Doering was then transferred to the 2nd Guards Regiment as battalion commander and was promoted to lieutenant colonel in this capacity on September 10, 1840 . On December 14, 1841, initially entrusted with the command of the Guard Fusilier Regiment , Doering was appointed regiment commander on April 26, 1842 and promoted to colonel on March 22, 1843 . On July 13, 1848, he was appointed commander of the 1st Infantry Brigade and on May 8, 1849 he was promoted to major general . On the occasion of the war for Schleswig-Holstein , his brigade mobilized at the end of May 1849 and was deployed in northern Germany. Doering simultaneously acted as commander of the Prussian troops in Hamburg from mid-October to early December 1849 . He was then commander of the 2nd Infantry Brigade for half a year and the 9th Infantry Brigade for three months , before taking over the 1st Infantry Brigade again. In recognition of his achievements, he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd Class with Oak Leaves, on August 6, 1851 . As Lieutenant General Doering received his on June 8, 1854 Farewell to the statutory pension . On February 21, 1857 he was finally put up for disposal with a pension .

Doering was an honorary knight of the Order of St. John .

family

Doering married on October 18, 1818 in Kaliningrad , the Baroness Gertrud Marianne Emma Budde Brock (* 1800, † 17 October 1820). The later Prussian Major General Wilhelm von Doering emerged from this marriage . After the early death of his first wife, Doering married Minna von Montowt on December 2, 1823 in Königsberg (* March 1, 1802, † December 16, 1865). Coming from marriage:
