Wilhelm Adolf Ernst von Kamptz (* July 2, 1807 in Goldap , † December 25, 1889 in Ehrenbreitstein ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

His parents were the Prussian major general August Ernst von Kamptz (1757-1817) and his wife Caroline Juliane, née de l'Homme de Courbiere (1776-1843). She was the youngest daughter of the Prussian Field Marshal Wilhelm René de l'Homme de Courbière .

Military career

Kamptz visited the cadet houses in Kulm and Berlin . On April 8, 1825, he was transferred to the 23rd Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army as a Portepeefähnrich. There he advanced to secondary lieutenant in mid-March 1827 and joined the 6th Infantry Regiment in Glogau on March 30, 1830 . In mid-December 1831 he was assigned to the 5th Artillery Brigade . On February 14, 1837 Kamptz was aggregated to the association and used as an artillery officer in the fireworks department in Spandau . Left in this position, he was aggregated as Prime Lieutenant on July 5, 1840 of the 8th Artillery Brigade . From June 5, 1841 to February 26, 1842 Kamptz was active in the 3rd Artillery Brigade . He then became adjutant at the 1st artillery inspection in Stettin under Major General von Scharnhorst . When he was promoted to captain , Kamptz was appointed first adjutant. During the Baden Revolution he was involved in the siege of the Rastatt fortress . After the fortress surrendered, Kamptz was an artillery officer from the square in Rastatt . On August 12, 1850, he was aggregated to the 8th Artillery Regiment and commanded to lead the 2nd Fortress Artillery Company in Koblenz and Ehrenbreitstein . This was followed from May 18, 1853 as an artillery officer from the square in Neisse . Promoted to major shortly thereafter , he was transferred to the 4th Artillery Regiment in Magdeburg on September 25, 1855 as a department commander. From there, Kamptz returned to Koblenz on April 21, 1859 with the appointment as inspector of the 3rd Artillery Fortress Inspection. In this capacity he was promoted to colonel by mid-October 1861 and was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle III on January 18, 1863 on the occasion of the festival of the order . Class with a bow.
