William Cohn (* 1957 in Colombia as Markus Kühne ) is a German speaker , actor , voice actor and singer . He became known in 2012 with his sonorous bass voice as the program spokesman for the TV talk show Roche & Böhmermann on ZDFkultur , in which he introduced the talk guests in clips. Since then, he has also had camera appearances in Neo Magazin Royale and Circus HalliGalli , which increased his popularity among young viewers.

Cohn comes from a family of musicians. His parents moved with him to Vienna , where he attended the Rudolf Steiner School . After graduating from school, he worked in the real estate industry. His company imported plastic moldings from the USA. After bankruptcy, the failure of his marriage and a life crisis, he decided to pursue a career as an actor and singer. He studied singing with Hans Blaschke in Munich , with Kurt Rydl in Vienna and Dennis M. Heath in Munich and Los Angeles. He also took acting lessons with Juri M. Krasowski at the State Academy for Theater Arts in Saint Petersburg and with Stacey Martino at the Actors Studio West in Los Angeles . As a singer he worked among other things from 2005 to 2007 in the musical Ludwig² in the role of the arms dealer Kaspar and for the opera workshop on the Rhine as Zuniga in Carmen . He also worked as a spokesman for the mission terra incognita of Ö1 . In 2011 he took part in the new edition of the musical Ludwig² , this time in Kempten , again in the role of Kaspar. According to Cohn, his stage name goes back to his Jewish great-great-great-grandmother.

As an actor, Cohn held smaller roles in television series and films such as Kupetzky and House of Boys , and later in Together Forever and Der Alte . He starred in the short film Der Tag, on which Herr Müller simply couldn't think of anything more, directed by Philipp Käßbohrer , who later became the producer of the Roche & Böhmermann show . 2013 he was the voice-over of RTL - reality show Wild Girls - on high heels through Africa . In the same year, Cohn narrated the radio play Die Maintöchter by Ulrich Bassenge , a humorous soap opera about the Wagner family on the occasion of the 200th birthday of the composer Richard Wagner, for SRF . He also took on an election commercial for the Bundestag election campaign of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party . From 2013 to 2016 he worked as a sidekick and speaker in Jan Böhmermann's show Neo Magazin Royale (until 2014 Neo Magazin ) . Since 2016 he has only appeared there in clips and less often in direct broadcasts. In March 2014, Cohn took on a part in the television program Circus HalliGalli for two episodes . Since May 2015 he can also be heard in the radio comedy The best day in the world, which is broadcast on various ARD channels . In December 2015 it was announced that Cohn was acting as a new digital advertising testimonial for Nissan , and from mid-January 2016 this cooperation was also expanded to include radio advertising . In 2016, Cohn had a guest role in the German soap opera Lindenstrasse . After longtime voice actor Donald Arthur passed away in September 2016, Cohn took over the German voice of Kent Brockman from The Simpsons in November 2016 . He is also the German commentator on MTV's new series Fear Factor .
