Witchmaster is a Polish black and thrash metal band from Zielona Góra , which was founded in 1996.

history

Rejekim at the Firlej Club in Wroclaw on September 6, 2011

The band was founded on Walpurgis Night 1996 by the former Profanum members Krzysztof “Geryon” Włodarski (electric guitar, vocals) and Tomasz “Reyash” Rejek (electric bass, vocals). The line-up was supplemented by the drummer Witold "Vitold" Domański. In the same year the band recorded their first demo under the name Thrash ör Die! on. A year later, a second one called No Peace at All followed. A song from this was used for the Sampler Sounds of the Apocalypse Vol. 1 by Pagan Records . Various labels such as Head Not Found and Merciless Records then expressed their interest. In 1999 the group signed a record deal with Pagan Records, which in 2000 saw the release of their debut album Violence & Blasphemy , which consists of 14 original songs and the cover version of a blasphemy song. After the release, Rejek and Domański were replaced by bassist Shymon and drummer Zbigniew Robert "Inferno" Promiński ( Behemoth ). Sebastian "Bastis" Grochowiak took over the vocals. After playing several concerts, the band went to the studio to record the album Masochistic Devil Worship . Due to unfortunate circumstances, however, the recordings could not be finished, so that none of the recordings were used in the later publication. Instead, the group went to the Hertz Recording Studio and recorded the album within three days. The album was released in May 2002 and includes cover versions of Sarcófagos Satanic Lust and Sodom's Blasphemer . In the same year it went on tour with Deströyer 666 and Howitzer and was seen live for the first time in Western Europe . Due to disputes with the other members, Shymon left the band. On the following tour, Marek “Necrosodom” Lechowski from Anima Damnata took over the bass. After that, Rejek returned to the cast. In 2003 the 1997 demo was released as an EP under the name Sex, Drugs & Satan on Maleficium Records and had a circulation of 333 copies. Another edition of only 33 pieces contained a free leather whip. At the end of 2003, the recording of the third, self-titled album began. This was released on Agonia Records in 2004 . The same label released the split release Hater of Fucking Humans / Blood Bondage Flagellation with Adorior in the same year . The release was originally planned for the French label Circle of the Tyrants Records with a circulation of 666 pieces. Shortly after the album was released, Axis of Advance went on tour through the Netherlands , Germany , Belgium and Slovenia , with Anima Damnata drummer Łukasz “Necrolucas” Boguszewicz helping out. In September 2004, performances with Atomizer and Impiety were also held in Europe. Since Promiński was too involved in Behemoth, he was replaced by Sebastian "Bastek" Łuszczek (ex- Devilyn , ex- Hell-Born ). The band then recorded six songs for the EP Sex Drugs & Natural Selection (2009) and the album Trücizna (2009). In 2008 the group had been live in Poland, Germany and the UK . After the recordings, the bulldozer went on tour. In 2009 the band could be seen in Giessen at the Kings of Black Metal festival, in which Watain , Mayhem , Dark Funeral , Necrophobic , Taake , Necros Christos , Hellsaw and Mathyr also took part. On the subsequent EP Śmierć (2012) Łuszczek can be heard on drums for the last time. In 2013 Promiński returned to the band as a drummer and also took over the electric guitar on the following album Antichristus Ex Utero .

style

Zalewski at the Firlej Club in Wroclaw on September 6, 2011

According to paganrecords.com.pl , the group calls their music "Satanic Metal Slaughter" and combines black, thrash, speed and death metal . Robert Müller from Metal Hammer wrote about Trücizna that the band continued to play punk- influenced Black-Thrash-Metal of the 1980s, the only change being in the lyrics. These would no longer be about "which (not necessarily human) opening the next shot of semen should be put into", but about the Road to Treblinka and other doom scenarios. The album is comparable to Sodom's Obsessed by Cruelty .
