Wolfgang Reisinger (born July 16, 1955 in Vienna ) is an Austrian jazz drummer.

Live and act

Reisinger received his first musical training at the age of five with the Vienna Boys' Choir . He then studied piano at the Vienna Conservatory and drums with Richard Hochrainer at the Hochschule für Musik .

From 1975 to 1977 Reisinger was a member of the Medaya Trio (with guitarist Voja Brkovitc and pianist Beat Furrer ), with whom he toured Austria, Switzerland and Yugoslavia. In 1979 he became a percussionist with the Vienna Art Orchestra , of which he was a member until 1989. In 1981 Reisinger founded the Part of Art group , which included Wolfgang Puschnig , Uli Scherer , Herbert Joos and Jürgen Wuchner as soloists from the Vienna Art Orchestra . He performed with Part of Art in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France and recorded his first CDs as a band leader. After a tour with Hans Koller , he founded the group Air Mail (with Harry Pepl ), Wolfgang Puschnig and Mike Richmond . In 1986 he became a member of Wolfgang Mitterer's Quartet Pat Brothers (with Linda Sharrock and Wolfgang Puschnig), whose album Pat Brothers No. 1 the price of the German Record Critics received.

After leaving the Vienna Art Orchestra , Reisinger became a member of the European Jazz Trio with François Couturier and Jean-Paul Céléa in 1989 . He also worked in Paris with Dominique Pifarély , Yves Robert and Philippe Deschepper and performed at the Moers Festival with Louis Sclavis . In the same year, the album Matador was created in collaboration with Mitterer . Between 1994 and 1996 he worked with musicians such as Enrico Rava , John Abercrombie , Evan Parker , Michel Godard , Herb Robertson and Peter Kowald .

In addition to his work as a jazz musician, Reisinger was always active in the field of classical and improvisational music. As early as 1973 he belonged to the experimental group First Vienna Music Circus , which turned music into dance performances. Since the mid-1970s he worked with the composer Thomas Pernes . 1978 was a commissioned composition for the Vienna Burgtheater Hippodrome . With the Quintet Passage, founded in 1990 (with Armand Angster , Françoise Kubler , Francois Couturier and Jean-Paul Céléa) the CDs Passage and L'Ibere ​​were created . Reisinger performed with Passenger in France in the mid-1990s. At the Töne & Gegentöne festival , Reisinger performed with the Japanese koto player Kazue Sawai ; he also played in a duo with Agustí Fernández .

In 1987 he worked with the London Symphony Orchestra , and in 1991 he took part in the Austrian premiere of Luciano Berios Circles . In 2001 he wrote incidental music for the theater klas auf der Heunburg in Carinthia.
