Wolisko ( German  1938 to 1945 Schnepfenberge ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the urban and rural community of Nidzica ( German  Neidenburg ) in the powiat Nidzicki ( Neidenburg district ).

Geographical location

Wolisko is located in the southwestern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , nine kilometers northeast of the district town of Nidzica (Neidenburg) .

history

Before 1945, the Wolisko forestry belonging to the Grünfließ state forest was a residential area within the rural community of Wientzkowen (1938 to 1945 Winsken , Polish : Więckowo ) in the Muschakener district , which was assigned to the East Prussian district of Neidenburg .

In 1905 there were four residents registered in Wolisko. On June 3 - officially confirmed on July 16 - 1938, Wolisko was renamed "Schnepfenberge" for political and ideological reasons to defend against foreign-sounding place names.

In 1945, the forester came Schnepf mountains in consequence of the war with the entire southern East Prussia to Poland . It received the name "Wolisko" back and is now an Osada leśna (= "forest settlement") within the urban and rural community of Nidzica (Neidenburg) in the powiat Nidzicki ( Neidenburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship associated.

Until 1945 Wolisko resp. Schnepfenberge in the Protestant church Muschaken (Polish: Muszaki ) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union , also parish in the Roman Catholic Church Neidenburg in the Diocese of Warmia . Today Wolisko belongs to the parish Muszaki in the Archdiocese of Warmia on the Catholic side and to the Nidzica parish church in the Masurian diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Wolisko is conveniently located in terms of traffic and can be reached directly from Nidzica (Neidenburg) on state road 7 , from Więckowo (Wientzkowen , 1938 to 1945 Winsken) on voivodship route 604 and Napiwoda (green flow) on voivodship route 545 . There is no connection to rail traffic .
