Volodymyr Wiktorowytsch Aleksjuk ( Ukrainian Володимир Вікторович Алексюк ; born June 22, 1987 in Kiev , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Ukrainian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Stoczniowiec Gdańsk in the Polish Ekstraliga since 2018 .

Career

Volodymyr Aleksjuk began his career as a hockey player at HK Kiev in the B group of the East European Hockey League . In 2003 he moved to Lokomotive Yaroslavl and played in their second team, which was then active in the third Russian league. During the 2004/05 season he moved to HK Nyoman Hrodna in the Belarusian extra league . There he could not assert himself permanently and shuttled between the first and the second team. So it came in the middle of the 2005/06 season for the next change and Aleksjuk returned to his hometown Kiev, where he signed with HK Sokil Kiev . Although based in the Ukrainian capital, Sokil also played in the Belarusian extra league and the second-rate Russian Wysschaja league . After playing mainly in the second team, he became Ukrainian champion with Sokil in 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010 . In the meantime he was loaned to his original club HK Kiev and HK ATEK Kiev . After winning the fourth title, Aleksjuk was looking for a new challenge and moved to Kazakhstan to HK Beibarys Atyrau , with whom he was able to win his first national championship title straight away. Despite this success, he moved back to Ukraine, where he won the Ukrainian championship in the professional hockey league in 2011 and 2012 with the second team of HK Donbass Donetsk - the top team plays in the KHL . After two years in the Donets Basin, he moved to HK Bilyj Bars Brovary in 2013, near his native Kiev. He stayed there for only one year and then moved to Poland, where he was on the ice first for JKH GKS Jastrzębie and then for Podhale Nowy Targ in the Ekstraliga . In January 2016 he moved back to Ukraine and in the same year won his seventh and in 2017 his eighth Ukrainian championship title with HK Donbass Donetsk. After starting the 2017/18 season with the Kazakh HK Arlan Kökschetau and finishing with the Romanian CS Progym Gheorgheni , he moved back to Poland in 2018, where he joined Stoczniowiec Gdańsk .

International

For Ukraine, Aleksjuk already took part in the U18 World Championships 2004 in Division II and 2005 in Division I as well as the U20 World Championships in 2005 , 2006 and 2007 in Division I. He also represented his country at the 2013 Winter Universiade in Trentino, where he was also the team captain of the Ukrainians.

However, he made his debut in the men's national team in February 2013 at the age of 25 in the second qualifying round for the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi . Although the Ukrainians had no chance there, he was also nominated for the Group B tournament of the 2013 World Cup and achieved promotion to Group A of Division I undefeated with his team. He himself achieved the best plus / minus balance of the tournament. In 2015 , 2016 and 2017 he also took part in the Division I World Championships. He also represented his colors in the Olympic qualification for the Winter Games in Pyeongchang 2018 .
