Ziegelstadl is a district of the market in Dießen am Ammersee in the Upper Bavarian district of Landsberg am Lech .
geography
The hamlet of Ziegelstadt is about one kilometer south of St. Georgen on the eastern slope of the Schatzberg .
history
The place name comes from the clay pits in which bricks were burned. Today's Ziegelstadl is located on the site of the last of the formerly numerous clay pits around Diessen. This was only canceled in the 1910s.
Attractions
Not far from the hamlet is the St. Martin chapel , built in 1830 .

Carl Orff
The composer Carl Orff (1895–1982) lived in Ziegelstadl from 1955 until his death in 1982. His home and workhouse, in which his study is located, have been preserved in their original state.
From 2021 a Carl Orff Museum based on the plans of Meck Architects is to be built on the site .
