The Montenegro Stock Exchange was founded in 1993 by NLB Montenegrobanka, Pljevaljska banka, Beranska banka, Hipotekarna banka, Podgorička banka, Jugobanka, Nikšićka banka, Lovćen osiguranje and Agroosiguranje.
On 5 January 2010, Atlas corporation became the majority shareholder of the Montenegro Stock Exchange.[1]
In January 2010, stockholders in NEX approved a merger with the Montenegro Stock Exchange, initially expected to take place within two to three months.[2] However, the two were technically merged on 31 December 2010, with their systems jointly operating since 10 January 2011.[3] The merger consolidated and simplified securities trading in Montenegro.
