Éric Beaudoin (born May 3, 1980 in Ottawa , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who was active in the course of his active career for the Florida Panthers in the National Hockey League .

Career

Éric Beaudoin was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning during the 1998 NHL Entry Draft and began his career with the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League . With these he won the 1998 J. Ross Robertson Cup , the championship trophy of the OHL.

From 2000 he went on the ice for various teams in the American Hockey League before making his debut for the Florida Panthers in the National Hockey League in the 2001/02 season . Until 2005 he played for the Panthers in the NHL and for their farm teams in the AHL, where he completed a total of 53 NHL games, in which he scored eleven points .

Before the 2005/06 season, Beaudoin was signed by the Newcastle Vipers from the British Elite Ice Hockey League . A short time later, however, this contract was dissolved, since Beaudoin was playing for various clubs in the SM-liiga . Ultimately, however, he moved to Sweden for Mora IK , for which he completed a total of three seasons. In 2008 he joined the Swedish runner-up Linköpings HC and played for them in both the Elite Series and the Champions Hockey League . In May 2009 he signed a contract with Rögle BK . Despite a solid season for the Canadian, relegation to HockeyAllsvenskan could not be prevented. Then Beaudoin decided to leave Sweden to play in Switzerland for the EHC Biel in the NLA . Due to a shoulder injury, he was out for much of the 2010/11 season . Nevertheless, thanks to good performance in relegation , the contract was extended by one year. After two more seasons with the Swiss first division club, the Canadian's contract was not renewed. In his last season for EHC Biel, he was unable to complete a large number of games because of the lockout in the NHL , as two well-known players, Tyler Seguin and Patrick Kane , were committed in the fight for one of the four contingent places.

The move to Germany followed, where Beaudoin was active for the Straubing Tigers in the German Ice Hockey League for a few months . Shortly afterwards, however, he returned to EHC Biel in Switzerland, where he scored ten goals in 24 main round games and prepared another eight for his teammates. Furthermore, he took part in the playouts with the team, which after completed the main round with only 50 points in the penultimate place in the table, took part in the play-outs and then had to play in the league qualification against the second division club EHC Visp , where one remained in the highest Swiss ice hockey league. He was then without a club.

On December 17, 2014, the KHL club KHL Medveščak Zagreb signed Beaudoin until the end of the season. Due to an injury, he only played three missions in the KHL, so his contract was terminated in May 2015.

In January 2016, following a probationary period, Beaudoin signed a contract with the Swiss NLB club EHC Olten until the end of the 2015/16 season. After head coach Heikki Leime was dismissed during the playoff semifinal series in March, Beaudoin took over the interim coaching position together with sports director Jakob Kölliker . Then the Canadian ended his active career.
