Świniary Wielkie ( German Groß Blumenau , until 1894 Groß Schweinern ) is a place of Gmina Wołczyn in the Opole Voivodeship in Poland .

Geographical location

Świniary Wielkie is located in the northwestern part of Upper Silesia in the Kreuzburger Land. The village of Świniary Wielkie is located about six kilometers northwest of the municipality of Wołczyn , about 20 kilometers northwest of the district town of Kluczbork and about 53 kilometers north of the voivodeship capital Opole .

The Strumień Wołczyński ( Konstädter Bach ) flows east of the village .

Neighboring towns of Świniary Wielkie are in the northwest Szymonków ( Simmenau ), to the east Krzywiczyny ( Schoenfeld ) and southwest Wierzbica Dolna ( German Würbitz ).

history

The village is first mentioned in 1404 as Desertum Sweyner . In 1410 it was mentioned as Wustin Sweiner .

In 1672 the first church was built in the village.

In 1845 the village consisted of a Catholic church, a castle and another 20 houses. In the same year, 186 people lived in Groß Schweinern, 44 of whom were Catholic. In 1861 there were 149 people in Groß Schweinern. In 1874 the administrative district Deutsch Würbitz was founded, to which Groß Schweinern belonged. In 1885 415 people lived in the village. Around 1894 the name of the village was changed to Groß Blumenau .

In 1933 there were 345 people in Groß Blumenau, and again 321 in 1939. Until 1945 the village belonged to the Kreuzburg OS district

As a result of the Second World War, Groß Blumenau fell under Polish administration in 1945, like most of Silesia . The place was subsequently renamed Świniary Wielkie and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 it was incorporated into the Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place came to the newly founded Powiat Kluczborski ( Kreuzburg district ).

Attractions

  • The scrap wood church of St. Bartholomew (Polish Kościół drewniany pw. Św. Bartłomieja ) was built in 1762. A church stood in the same place as early as 1672. The bell tower has a rectangular floor plan and a tent roof. The bell dates from 1622. The baroque main altar dates from 1698. The pulpit, which was built in the Renaissance style, dates from around the same time . The church has been a listed building since 1954.
  • The Castle United Blumenau was built in the early 19th century in the classical style. The one-story building has a rectangular floor plan. Today it is privately owned.
  • The 1.95 hectare park has a large number of old trees.
