In 1614 a Protestant scrap wood church is built in Simmenau. This was donated by the then squire Hans von Stwolinski. The builders were Hans Hase and his son.

Between 1842 and 1843 a new stone schoolhouse was built for the town. In 1845 the village consisted of an evangelical parish church, a castle, an evangelical school, a brewery, a distillery and another 73 houses. In the same year, 968 people lived in Simmenau, 162 of them Catholic and 16 Jewish. From 1858, Baron Rudolf von Lüttwitz had a castle built in Simmenau in the English neo-Gothic style. The stone neo-Gothic Protestant church in Simmenau was built between 1873 and 1875. In 1874 the Simmenau district was founded. The first head of office was the rent master Franz Rother.

In 1933 there were 1193 people in Simmenau, and in 1939 there were 1093 people. In the 1930s the castle was partially used for the Reich Labor Service . Until 1945 the village belonged to the Kreuzburg OS district

As a result of the Second World War, Simmenau fell under Polish administration in 1945, like most of Silesia . Subsequently, the place was renamed Szymonków and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 it was incorporated into the Opole Voivodeship. The castle, which remained undamaged during the war, was partly heavily devastated in the 1950s. It was demolished between 1956 and 1957 for the extraction of building material. In 1999 Szymonków came to the newly founded Powiat Kluczborski ( Kreuzburg district ).
