- August 25 or September 15 : Boniface IV. Succeeds Boniface III, who died the previous year . elected pope .
- Phocas gives the Pantheon in Rome to Pope Boniface IV , with whom he is on friendly terms . He consecrates it to the Mother of God and all martyrs. At the same time, the Phocas column is being erected on the Roman Forum ; it is the last building of ancient Rome .
