The 7.5 cm field cannon 16nA (nA = new type) was a field cannon of the Wehrmacht in World War II .

history

At the beginning of the 1930s, there were still many 7.7 cm field cannons 16 in service in the German army that came from the time of the First World War .

In the course of the rearmament of the Wehrmacht , these cannons were subjected to an increase in combat value by placing new 7.5 cm cannon barrels in the old mounts . The resulting gun was called the 7.5 cm field cannon 16nA and was mainly assigned to the mounted artillery of the cavalry units. Later other units received this gun. Since the projectile weight of the HE shell was only 5.83 kilograms, it was no longer used on the front lines after 1940. Like many other outdated weapons, it was still used on the Atlantic Wall or in occupation divisions.
