Lists on the subject |
The 7,65 × 21 mm Luger cartridge (see below for further names) is based on a bottle neck sleeve that was introduced in 1900 by the Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabrik (DWM).
As pistol ammunition, it was part of the equipment of the Swiss Army until the late 1940s (official name: Pist Pat 03). It was the predecessor of the 9 mm cartridge used in the 08 pistol . The sleeve of the 7.65 × 21 mm Luger was the starting sleeve of the 9 mm Luger . The 9 mm Parabellum, which emerged from the 7.65 mm caliber , was used as the standard ammunition for the 08 pistol and its successor, the Walther P38 , both in the First and Second World War .
The kinetic performance of the 7.65 × 21 mm Luger is mostly underestimated. It is often confused with the 7.65 Browning , which has only about half the projectile energy.
The 7.65 × 21 mm Luger is one of the most precise pistol cartridges. In view of the mostly older weapons, the cartridge is fired today mainly with weak labor .
The cartridge is manufactured by Fiocchi, Winchester , RUAG and Prvi Partizan .
