Abakus Musik ( LC 06461; partly also: Abakus , Abakus Verlag or earlier Abakus Schallplatten and Ulmtal Musikverlag Barbara Fietz ; own spelling in capital letters: ABAKUS Musik ) is a music label for Christian pop music , New Spiritual Songs and Christian songwriters .

history

In the mid-1970s, singer-songwriter Siegfried Fietz was increasingly unhappy about his artistic limits as a producer in the record label Songs of the Happy Message at the time, as well as angered by a procrastination tactic by the major label CBS Records . So he and his wife founded their own publishing house in Greifenstein in autumn 1974 under Abakus Schallplatten and Ulmtal Musikverlag Barbara Fietz , in order to create artistic freedom for style-wise less commercial projects with a Christian message. Today's recording company operates under the name Abakus Musik Barbara Fietz and operates its label Abakus Musik under the label code 06461. The children's label Abakussi ( LC 00869) belongs to the major label Universal Music , but is actually releasing productions for children previously published by Abakus Musik .

Fietz's individualistic business approach received great attention in the Christian music market in the following years. The label enjoyed increasing success and was soon able to attract more artists. These include, for example, the gospel singer Jan Vering , the classic bass-baritone Wilfried Mann , the Aufwind choir under the direction of Johannes Nitsch , songwriter Jürgen Werth and Clemens Bittlinger , the recorder player Hans-Jürgen Hufeisen and the so-called "singing pastor" Wilfried Reuter . Fietz also engaged internationally known contributors for his large-scale projects, such as the US astronaut Jim Irwin as the spokesman for his Space Sinfony , Coretta Scott King sang for the Martin Luther concept I have a dream with, Ivan Rebroff , Bianca (real name ) for various oratorios or Olivia Molina for the World Vision cooperation Water for the World .
