Alexander Campbell King (born December 7, 1856 in Charleston , South Carolina , † July 25, 1926 in Flat Rock , North Carolina ) was an American lawyer and United States Solicitor General .

biography

After his admission as a lawyer in the state of South Carolina, he initially practiced as a lawyer before he was a legal advisor to several railroad companies . First he acted from 1887 to 1889 as chief advisor to the East & West Railroad of Alabama and at the same time from 1887 to 1893 as assistant to the chief advisor of the Atlanta & West Point Railroad . In addition, was from 1890 to 1892 assistant to the chief advisor of the Richmond & Danville Railroad . Most recently he was chief advisor to the Chattanooga, Rome & Columbus Railroad between 1894 and 1901 and then worked again as a lawyer.

In November 1918, Alexander Campbell King was appointed Solicitor General by US President Woodrow Wilson and as such took third place in the United States Department of Justice until May 1920 . In 1920 he was appointed judge at the 5th US Court of Appeals ; he was a member of this federal appeals court, based in New Orleans, until 1924.

Most recently, from 1925 until his death, he was a partner at King & Spalding, a law firm with 200 attorneys today and based in Atlanta .
