Alexander V. Acebo called Tino Acebo (born September 5, 1927 in Barre , Vermont ; † April 11, 2019 ) was an American politician who was State Auditor of Vermont from 1970 to 1993 .

Life

Alexander Valentino Acebo was born in Barre. He attended school in Barre and graduated from Spaulding High School. Acebo served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1949 and rose to the rank of staff sergeant in the Finance Corps .

The Bryant College in Providence , Rhode Iceland closed Acebo in 1952 with a Bachelor Accounts in Business Administration from.

Acebo served as a member of various public offices. He was a member of the Barre City School Board. He was also chairman of this committee.

Acebo had worked in the State Auditor's office since 1961. He was the Senior Personal Auditor when the newly elected State Auditor Robert T. King died of a heart attack in office in 1970 . Maurice T. Keefe, the Assistant State Auditor, declined to be appointed State Auditor by Governor Deane Davis . Davis then offered this office to Acebo, who accepted it. Keefe remained Deputy State Auditor, now under Acebo. Acebo was nominated as a member of the Republican Party for election in 1970.

In November 1970, Acebo was then elected for a full term. He was re-elected in the elections until 1990. His term of office lasted from September 1970 to January 1993. Acebo did not run for re-election in 1992.

After retiring, Acebo moved to Wells Beach , Maine . He died there on April 11, 2019.
