Job Lyman

Job Lyman (born December 9, 1781 in Northampton , Massachusetts , † September 10, 1870 in Burlington , Vermont ) was an American politician and lawyer who was State Auditor of Vermont from 1813 to 1815 .

Life

Job Lyman was born in Northampton, Massachusetts. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1804 , studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1808. He moved to Woodstock , Vermont and opened a law firm there.

In addition to his practice as a lawyer, Lyman also worked in banking. He served as the treasurer of the Woodstock branch of Vermont State Bank and president of Woodstock Bank.

Lyman was active in local politics. So he was Justice of the Peace and Auditor for Windsor County .

An active member of the Congregational Church , Lyman served as treasurer of the Vermont Domestic Missionary Society from 1821 to 1827.

From 1813 to 1815, Lyman was Vermont's Auditor of Accounts. He was a member of the Governor's Council from 1829 to 1830 .

In 1850 Lyman moved to Burlington , where he died on September 10, 1870. Lyman was married to Mary Parrot Hall and the couple had several children.
