Robert T. King

Robert T. King (born March 15, 1917 in Jericho , Vermont , † September 18, 1970 ibid) was an American politician who was State Auditor of Vermont from 1969 to 1970 .

Life

Robert Thomas King was born in Jericho, Vermont to Perley Joseph King (1892-1956) and Alice M. King (1891-1970). He attended school in nearby Underhill .

King served in the Sino-Burmese-Indian theater of war during World War II . He was released from military service with the rank of warrant officer in 1946 . He then attended Champlain College in Burlington . He received his bachelor's degree in accounting from William and Mary College in 1950 and served on the staff of Vermont's Auditor of Accounts.

As a bachelor, King served in various public offices in Jericho. As a moderator of the town meetings for the Mount Mansfield Union School District, the Underhill Graded School District and the Underhill-Jericho Water District.

In 1963 he was appointed Deputy State Auditor. As a member of the Republican Party , King ran for State Auditor in 1968 and held that office from 1969 until his death.

King died of a heart attack on September 18, 1970 in Jericho. His grave is in Underhill Flats Cemetery in Underhill. He was succeeded by Alexander V. Acebo after in office.
