Randolph D. Brock III

Randolph D. Brock III called Randy Brock (born September 28, 1943 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American politician who was a State Auditor for Vermont from 2005 to 2007 .

Life

Brock was born in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania . He has a bachelor's degree from Middlebury College and a Master of Arts from Yale University .

Brock served in the United States Army , attaining the rank of captain . He was in the Vietnam War and received the Bronze Star and an Army Achievement Medal .

He was vice chairman for Fidelity Investments .

In 2004 Brock was elected State Auditor as a member of the Republican Party , winning the election against Democratic Party candidate and incumbent Elizabeth M. Ready . He lost the 2006 election to Democratic Party candidate Thomas M. Salmon , son of former Vermont governor Thomas P. Salmon . In the first vote, Brock led by 137 votes. However, Salmon requested a recount and on December 21, 2006, Salmon was declared the winner, by 102 votes.

In 2008, Brock was elected to the Vermont Senate . He was re-elected in 2010.

Brock ran for governor of Vermont in 2012. He lost the election to Peter Shumlin .

Randy Brock is married to Andrea Forrest Brock and the couple have one daughter.
