Frederick E. Woodbridge

Frederick Enoch Woodbridge (born August 29, 1818 in Vergennes , Vermont , †  April 25, 1888 ibid) was an American politician .

Woodbridge studied law at the University of Vermont , Burlington , where he graduated in 1840. In 1843 he was admitted to the bar and practiced in Vergennes. In 1849, 1857 and 1859 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Vermont . Woodbridge held the office of Mayor of Vergennes for five years. From 1850 to 1853 he held the post of Vermont Auditor of Accounts . He then became a prosecutor from 1854 to 1858 and was a Senator in the Vermont Senate from 1860 to 1861 .

Woodbridge was elected as a Republican to Congress and represented there after several re-elections from March 4, 1863 to March 3, 1869 the state of Vermont in the US House of Representatives . After leaving politics, he began to practice again in his previous profession. Woodbridge died in Vergennes in 1888 and was buried in Prospect Cemetery .
