Jonathan Hatch Hubbard

Jonathan Hatch Hubbard (born May 7, 1768 in Tolland , Colony of Connecticut , † September 20, 1849 in Windsor , Vermont ) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1809 and 1811 he represented the second constituency of the state of Vermont in the US House of Representatives .

Career

At the age of eleven, Jonathan Hubbard moved to Claremont , New Hampshire with his parents . There he enjoyed a private education and then studied law. After his admission to the bar in 1790, he began working in his new profession in Windsor, Vermont.

Hubbard was a member of the Federalist Party . In the congressional elections of 1808 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the second district of Vermont , where he succeeded James Elliot on March 4, 1809 . Since he was not confirmed in the elections of 1810, he could only complete one term in Congress until March 3, 1811 .

After leaving Congress, Hubbard was a judge on the Vermont Supreme Court from 1813 to 1815 . He then worked as a lawyer. He died in Windsor in September 1849.
