Vermont State Auditor
The Vermont State Auditor, also called Auditor of Accounts, is one of six cabinet-level constitutional offices in the US state of Vermont , which is elected for two years. It is responsible for making independent and objective reviews of Vermont government operations. This includes three main areas of work: performance audits, final audits of the state (CAFR) and individual state audits in which the use of federal funds by the state is checked.
Acting Auditor of Accounts is Doug Hoffer , a member of the Democratic Party and the Vermont Progressive Party . He was elected to this office in 2012.
Until 1870 the Auditors of Accounts were elected for a year.
