Alexander Wilhelm von Arnim (born November 17, 1738 in Fredenwalde ; † September 29, 1809 there ) was a Prussian lieutenant general , chief of infantry regiment No. 13 and heir of Fredenwalde.

Alexander Wilhelm was the son of Alexander von Arnim (* February 25, 1688, † October 4, 1753), Lieutenant Colonel ret. D. , Herr auf Fredenwalde and his second wife Charlotte Sophie von Oertzen (* 1710; † June 17, 1768 in Pasewalk) from the Leppin family.

Military career

Arnim was employed in 1753 as a corporal in the infantry regiment "Itzenplitz" No. 13 of the Prussian army . During the Seven Years' War he took part in the battles of Lobositz , Prague , Roßbach , Leuthen , Torgau , Freiberg , and Hochkirch as well as in the sieges of Prague, Dresden and Olomouc . At Leuthen and Hochkirch he was wounded and at the siege of Olomouc he received the Pour le Mérite .

In 1762 he became the first lieutenant and adjutant general to General von Syburg . In 1763 he was also lieutenant quartermaster. In 1770 he was transferred as captain and company commander to the "von Hacke" infantry regiment No. 8 and took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 . In 1781, as a major , Arnim was first commander of the 1st battalion, in 1783 commander of the 2nd battalion and finally on 23 June 1785 regimental commander. In this position took place on June 1, 1788 his promotion to lieutenant colonel, and on July 12, 1790 to Colonel . King Friedrich Wilhelm II appointed him chief of the "von Braun" No. 13 infantry regiment on December 29, 1794. As such, Arnim was major general on January 10, 1795 and lieutenant general on May 20, 1802. In 1805 he came to the corps of the Elector of Hesse in Westphalia .

Arnim took part in the battle of Auerstedt with his regiment in 1806 . She was lost and Arnim was also wounded, so it was rumored that he had fallen. So it happened that a funeral sermon was given on October 26, 1806 and his cab drove into the other end of the village at the same time. On August 5, 1807, Arnim received his retirement with a pension of 800 Talers and retired to his estate in Fredenwalde, where he died in 1809.

Alexander Wilhelm von Arnim was the owner of the manors Fredenwalde and Willmine . In the Uckermark, he built the now defunct Albertinenhof farm north-east of Götschendorf and north-west of Alt-Temmen , which he named after his wife.

Arnim was married to Albertine Countess von Küssow (born October 26, 1753 in Megow ; † September 11, 1829 in Gerswalde) since 1772 . The following children were born from the marriage:
