Alpine Parliament

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Alpine Parliament is a private organization in the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland that operates a website and internet television under the domain www.alpenparlament.tv and is politically active.

According to the newspaper Der Bund , the organization spreads " anti-Semitic , racist and esoteric conspiracy theories " through its media . According to the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, it sells alternative medicine remedies, including a "therapy device" that is said to be able to cure hepatitis , tuberculosis , syphilis and malaria within minutes. According to its self-portrayal, however, the organization is a "group of free thinkers" who strive for a revolution "for the good of all people on earth". However, as it emphasizes, there are no connections to the humanist-secular freethinkers association in Switzerland .

politics

Martin Frischknecht was a candidate in the National Council elections in 2003 and 2007 as a top candidate for the “Health Interest Group” (PIG). This represented similar concerns as later the "Alpine Parliament", and some of its candidates later appeared on the "Alpine Parliament" list. The “Alpine Parliament” itself took part in the Swiss parliamentary elections in 2011 in the canton of Bern and received 1,409 votes (0.4%) . For the Swiss parliamentary elections in 2015 , the organization took part in a list with the Swiss People's Party (SVP) and the Young SVP . In the Swiss parliamentary elections in 2019 the party enters "Health - Energy - Nature", which describes itself as a "party political arm" of the "Alpine Parliament".

The organization was led in 2013 by founder Martin Frischknecht and Roland Schöni, who used to be politically active with the Swiss Democrats . The group became known in the media in 2013 for administrating the signature collection for the referendum of the Swiss People's Party against the increase in the price of the motorway vignette. In 2016 she acted as a co-initiator of the " Horny Cow Initiative ", which aims to create financial incentives against the dehorning of farm animals. According to the scientifically unproven view of the “Alpine Parliament”, milk from dehorned animals is said to cause allergies.
