Będzino ( German  Alt Banzin ) is a village in the powiat Koszaliński ( Kösliner Kreis ) in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship . The village is the administrative seat of Gmina Będzino (Alt Banzin municipality) .

Geographical location

The village is located in Western Pomerania , about 17 kilometers west of Köslin ( Koszalin ) and five kilometers south of the Baltic Sea coast .

The place can be reached via the Polish state road 11 from Kolberg ( Kołobrzeg ) to Beuthen / Upper Silesia ( Bytom ) (between Kolberg and Kolmar in Posen, the former German Reichsstrasse 160 ). The place is a stop on the railway line Koszalin - Goleniów ( Köslin - Gollnow ).

history

Old Banzin once belonged to the office of Bast (today in Polish: Łękno), which was renamed after the relocation of the office to "Office Kasimirsburg" (Kazimierz Pomorski).

In Prussian time Old Banzin came into the district of Koszalin in the administrative district of Koszalin of Pomerania . Until 1945 the place was a part of the office Varchmin (Wierzchomino), to whose registry office district it also belonged. The competent district court and the tax office were in Köslin (Koszalin).

In 1905 there were 422 inhabitants registered in Alt Banzin, the number of which rose to 443 in 1925 and was 414 in 1933 and 439 again in 1939.

After 1945 the German town of Alt Banzin was placed under Polish administration and was given the Polish name of Będzino. The German population was expelled .

church

Most of the population living in Alt Banzin until 1945 belonged to the Protestant church. The place was parish in the parish of Bast , in which the places Kasimirsburg , Poppenhagen , Schützenwerder and Todenhagen were integrated.

The parish of Bast was in the parish of Köslin in the eastern district of the church province of Pomerania of the Church of the Old Prussian Union .

In 1940 there were 1150 parishioners in the parish. After the evangelical parishioners decreased after 1945 due to the expulsion , the place Będzino is now part of the evangelical parish Koszalin ( Köslin ) of the diocese of Pomerania-Greater Poland in the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Today almost without exception Catholic residents live in Będzino. There is the parish of św. Jana Chrzciceala ( John the Baptist ), who belongs to the deanery Mielno ( Großmöllen ) in the diocese of Köslin-Kolberg of the Catholic Church in Poland .
