Andreas "Andy" Krause (born November 16, 1967 ) is a former German soccer player and has been a professional poker player since 1999 .

Career

Soccer player

Krause started playing football in Meimsheim at the local multi-division club TSV Meimsheim in the Heilbronn district in Baden-Württemberg and continued it in the youth department of VfR Heilbronn. For the 1986/87 season he rose to the first team, for which he played in the third-class Oberliga Baden-Wuerttemberg and at the end of the season immediately returned to the Association League Wuerttemberg due to relegation. After two seasons in the fourth class association league, he returned to the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg, as he was active for FC Marbach from 1989 to 1991 . For the 1991/92 season he was signed by the Bundesliga newcomer Stuttgarter Kickers , for whom he played on November 16, 1991 (18th matchday) in a 3-0 home win against Borussia Mönchengladbach , with a substitution for Matthias Imhof in the 69th minute Substituted on, made his debut. In the 1: 3 defeat on December 14, 1991 (22nd matchday) in the away game against Bayer 04 Leverkusen , he played 90 minutes.

Krause discovered poker in 1998. In May 1999 he became European champion in Baden-Baden . For this he won a tournament in the No Limit Hold'em variant and a prize of almost 50,000 euros . In 2000 he won a tournament in seven card stud high / low in Las Vegas for $ 52,800  . In May 2000, he almost won a bracelet at the World Series of Poker . He finished second in the same variant and won $ 64,500. In 2005, Krause received 83,000 euros for his victory in Amsterdam in a Pot Limit Omaha tournament in the Master Classics of Poker . In 2007 he won 102,650 euros for a second place in a Hold'em tournament in Vienna . At the 2007 WSOP , he made it to the final table of $ 1500 No Limit Hold'em (2998 players and a prize pool of $ 4.5 million) in June 2007 . Krause took sixth place and won $ 94,000. At the main event , he finished 110th and won nearly $ 60,000. In July 2007 he won a tournament in Velden am Wörther See and was the first German poker player to exceed the total tournament prize money limit of one million US dollars due to the prize money of 24,600 euros.
