After establishing the first US professional league in women's soccer , the Women's United Soccer Association , she played for the Boston Breakers from 2001 to 2003 . The first season , in which she played together with the German national player Maren Meinert , the team finished in 6th place and thus missed the playoffs for the Founders Cup. The second season also ended . The third season went better at first : the league round ended in first place and her teammate, the Norwegian national player Dagny Mellgren , together with the Frenchwoman Marinette Pichon, was the best scorer with 14 goals each. In the play-off semi-final they lost 3-1 on penalties against Washington Freedom after a goalless 120 minutes . After the season, the league was discontinued for financial reasons.

In 2005 and 2006 she played for the Boston Renegades in the USL W-League , but failed in the first season after finishing 2nd in the Northeast Division of the Eastern Conference in the Eastern Semifinals of the Playoffs.

2009 was her last season as a soccer player. She played for the Boston Breakers in the newly formed WPS . The Breakers finished the league game round in fifth place and thus missed the playoffs.

National teams

From 1997 to 1999 she played for the U-20 and U-21 teams and won the Nordic Cup in 1997 and 1999 .

Hucles was first invited to training with the senior national team in 2001. On April 27, 2002, she made her first international match in the friendly against Finland when she was substituted on for team captain Julie Foudy . She was also substituted on in the following four games. On October 6, 2002, she started against Italy for the first time. She was then also part of the roster for the 2002 CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup in October and November. She scored her first international goal on November 6, 2002 in the semifinals after substitution to make it 4-0 in a 7-0 win against Costa Rica, which would have qualified the USA for the 2003 World Cup if the team had not automatically qualified as hosts. In the final against Canada she was not used, but she won her first title through the final victory of her teammates.

In 2003 she and the team first won the four-nation tournament in the People's Republic of China and then the Algarve Cup . She was then also nominated for the 2003 World Cup . Although it was used in all games of the year up to the World Cup, it was not used at the World Cup due to a shin injury. The US girls who went to the home World Cup as favorites had to be content with third place in the end. The two games after the World Cup also took place without them.

At the end of January / beginning of February 2004 she was substituted on three times at the four-nation tournament and won the tournament for the second time. This was followed by two appearances in qualifying for the 2004 Olympic Games and three for the 2004 Algarve Cup , where she scored a total of three goals, including the 1-0 winner in the group game against Denmark . Together with four other players she was the second best goalscorer of the tournament behind Abby Wambach . But it remained their only goals in the Algarve. At the three games in April, May and June it was not considered, but after two games in July it was nominated for the Olympic Games in Athens . But she was only substituted in in two group games. With the victory of her teammates in the final against Brazil , she became an Olympic champion for the first time. After the Olympic Games it was not used once.

In 2005 she was part of the winning US team at the Algarve Cup . After three more games in June and July, there was an international break of 14 games until August 2006. After that, substitutions alternated with starting eleven and games without participation. At the 2006 CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup , which the USA won, she was in the starting eleven in the final against Canada and the US girls only won with a penalty converted by Kristine Lilly in the 120th minute . The USA were already qualified for the 2007 World Cup by winning the semi-finals against Mexico , in which they only sat on the bench.

The year 2007 began for her by winning the Four Nations Tournament and the Algarve Cup again . She was then nominated for the 2007 World Cup , but, like four years earlier, she was not used and her team was again only third.

2008 was her best year with the national team. She was used in 32 of 36 games, starting 15 times and scoring eight goals after three years without goals. First, she was able to repeat winning the four-nation tournament and the Algarve Cup . Then she won the Olympic qualification tournament with the team. After that, after substitutions, she scored both the 5: 4 in a friendly against Australia and the goal to 1: 0 for the victory in the "Peace Queen Cup". At the victorious Olympic Games in Beijing , she was in the starting line-up in all games, did not miss a minute and scored four goals. She was the second best goalscorer of the tournament behind the Brazilian Cristiane . Again Brazil was beaten in the final, making her Olympic champion for the second time. On November 8th, she made her 100th international match against South Korea as part of the “Achieve Your Gold Tour 2008” .

In 2009 she lost the Algarve Cup in the final against Sweden on penalties . This was followed by three friendlies in May and July.
