Angela McLean (born August 19, 1970 in Twin Bridges , Madison County , Montana ) is an American politician . She was lieutenant governor of the state of Montana from 2014 to 2016 .

Career

Angela McLean graduated from Twin Bridges High School and then studied at the University of Montana Western in Dillon and the University of Montana in Missoula . She then embarked on a career in school service. She taught American history and government administration at Anconada High School . She also became a professor at Montana Tech in Butte . Politically, she joined the Democratic Party . Between 2012 and 2014, she was Chair of the Montana University System . She also sat on her state's education committee.

After the resignation of Lieutenant Governor John Walsh , who moved to the US Senate , McLean was appointed by Governor Steve Bullock as his successor. She has held this office since February 17, 2014. She was Deputy Governor. After Judy Martz , she was the second woman to hold this position in Montana. In November 2015, she announced her resignation. This should take effect on the day a successor is appointed. On January 3, 2016, Mike Cooney was appointed her successor, and her resignation took effect. She then took on the position of director of the State Commissioner of Higher Education .

She is married and has two children.
