Archibald E. Spriggs
Archibald Everett Spriggs ( December 2, 1865 - July 18, 1921 ) was an American politician . Between 1897 and 1901 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Montana .
Career
The sources on Archibald Spriggs are very poor. What is certain is that he lived at least temporarily in Helena and belonged to the Democratic Party . In 1896 he was elected lieutenant governor of Montana alongside Robert Burns Smith . He held this office between 1897 and 1901. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . Every lieutenant governor of Montana exercised this function between 1889 and 1972; thereafter the two offices were separated. In 1920 he participated as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in San Francisco . He died on July 18, 1921.
