Paul Cannon

Paul C. Cannon (born May 9, 1897 in Yakima , Washington , † November 3, 1986 ) was an American politician . Between 1949 and 1953 and again from 1957 to 1961 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Montana .

Career

The sources on Paul Cannon are very poor. A newspaper article about the gubernatorial elections in 1960 mentions that he was 63 years old and a businessman in Butte . Therefore his year of birth must have been around 1897. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party . Between 1940 and 1956 he participated as a delegate at all Democratic National Conventions .

In 1948, Cannon was elected Lieutenant Governor of Montana alongside John W. Bonner . He held this office between 1949 and 1953. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . In 1956 he was re-elected to this office, which he held again from 1957 to 1961 under Governor J. Hugo Aronson . A 2004 newspaper article named him the Worst Lieutenant Governor of Montana for whose inability the governor was concerned about leaving the state and transferring the duties of proxy to Cannon. In 1960, Cannon applied for the governor's office without success. After that his track is lost.
