John Bohlinger

John Bohlinger Jr. (born April 21, 1936 in Bozeman , Montana ) is an American politician . Between 2005 and 2013 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Montana.

Career

In 1941, John Bohlinger came to Billings with his parents , where he later went to high school. During this time he became a member of the reserves of the United States Marine Corps . From 1954 to 1961 he was in active military service there. He studied economics at the University of Montana and was head of the clothing company Aileen's Clothing from 1961 to 1992 . Politically, he initially joined the Republican Party . From 1992 to 1998 he was a member of the Montana House of Representatives ; between 1998 and 2004 he was a member of the State Senate .

In 2004 Bohlinger was elected lieutenant governor of Montana alongside the Democrat Brian Schweitzer . He held this office after a re-election between 2005 and 2013. He was Deputy Governor . In 2013 he left the Republicans and became a member of the Democratic Party. In 2014 he is aiming for his new party to be nominated for the US Senate elections .
