John Walsh (politician)
John E. Walsh (born November 3, 1960 in Butte , Montana ) is an American politician ( Democratic Party ). From February 9, 2014 to January 3, 2015, he represented the state of Montana in the US Senate .
Professional career
Walsh attended Butte High School through 1979 and later graduated from Carroll College in Helena . He studied at the State University of New York and graduated in 1990. He later graduated from the US Army War College in Carlisle , Pennsylvania in 2007 .
He served in the Montana National Guard from 1979 to 2012 . Walsh has the rank of Brigadier General and received the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantryman Badge .
Political career
From 2013 to 2014 he was Lieutenant Governor of Montana. When Senator Max Baucus was appointed Ambassador of the United States to the People's Republic of China , Walsh moved up to Congress . In August 2014, due to a plagiarism affair, he decided not to stand for the Senate election in November of the same year. Then came Amanda Curtis for the Democrats , who was defeated by the Republican Steve Daines .
