George Turman

George Turman (* 1928 in Missoula , Montana ; † December 9, 2008 ibid) was an American politician and Lieutenant Governor of Montana from 1981 to 1989 .

Turman graduated from the University of Montana . During the Korean War he served in the US Army . Turman began his political career as the Mayor of Missoula (1970–1972).

In 1980, he ran as a running mate by Ted shrinkage for the office of Lieutenant Governor of Montana. Turman held this office for the next seven years from 1981. In 1988 he resigned prematurely. He was then appointed by Schwinden to serve on the Northwest Power Planning Council . The office of lieutenant governor fell provisionally to Gordon McOmber .

Turman was married with five children, three daughters and two sons.
