Asseln is a northern district of Lichtenau in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany and belongs to the Paderborn district . Isola is also part of the Bürener Land region .
geography
Neighboring places
At isopods borders clockwise, starting in the south the light Auer neighborhoods Hakenberg , Lichtenau , foundation home , Iggenhausen , Herbram and Herbram Forest . The eastern boundary of the town is at the same time the Lichtenau city boundary and the district boundary of the Paderborn district against the Höxter district . This is followed by the Neuenheerse district of Bad Driburg .
climate
Like Ostwestfalen-Lippe, woodlice belongs to the oceanic climatic area of northwest Germany , to which it owes its low temperature differences and mild winters. However, continental influences are already at work . The temperature in summer is higher and the nights are cooler than in closer proximity to the coast. The location on the edge of the Egge Mountains causes a submontane climate of the low mountain range with cooler temperatures and higher precipitation than in other locations in the district.
history
prehistory
In the border area to the neighboring town of Herbram there is a Bronze Age barrow field. 12 of the 16 barrows are in the Asseler Forest .
First mention
The age of woodlice is not known, the first mentions go to the early 11th century. With the consent of his brothers Wirinhard and Nithing, who later became the Paderborn cathedral provost, a Folkmar transferred two estates in Holtheim and Asseln to Bishop Meinwerk . At the same time there are mentions of Count Ekkiko von Asseln ("Ekkika de Aslan"), a Paderborn liege count in the Almegau . Woodlice is a designation of origin and not yet a family name.
Manorial rule
Among the church possessions with the tenth Bishop Meinwerk 1036 the Busdorfstift in Paderborn endowed, is Asseln as Vorwerk the Villikation Bekena mentioned.
In 1447 the Lords of Oeynhausen bought the Paderborn feudal estates from the dying Lords of Herse von Dietrich von Herse, including a third of the village of Asseln.
church
The place initially belonged to the parish Kerktorp , the original parish of Soratfeld , which was moved to Lichtenau in the 14th century . In 1616 a chapel was built in Asseln and in 1660 Asseln was parish off . In 1756 the old chapel was replaced by a larger parish church, which in turn was replaced in 1906/07 by today's parish church of St. John Beheading . The patronage was taken over.
Incorporation
Before 1 January 1975, belonged to the former municipality of isopods for office Lichtenau (Westfalen) in county Buren . With the entry into force of the Sauerland / Paderborn Act on this day, most of the municipalities of the Atteln office will be merged with the municipalities of the Lichtenau office and thus Asseln to form the new city of Lichtenau (Westphalia) and will join the Paderborn district.
The legal successor to the dissolved office of Lichtenau and the municipality of Asseln is the city of Lichtenau.
