Asseln is a northern district of Lichtenau in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany and belongs to the Paderborn district . Isola is also part of the Bürener Land region .

First mention

The age of woodlice is not known, the first mentions go to the early 11th century. With the consent of his brothers Wirinhard and Nithing, who later became the Paderborn cathedral provost, a Folkmar transferred two estates in Holtheim and Asseln to Bishop Meinwerk . At the same time there are mentions of Count Ekkiko von Asseln ("Ekkika de Aslan"), a Paderborn liege count in the Almegau . Woodlice is a designation of origin and not yet a family name.
